Not everyone will have a problem with that (I certainly don't) and you
forgot to mention virtuals.

DIYers are irrelevant in my world. It wall-to-wall pros, with clear
procedures for every step in the lifecycle of a machine. Adding a step
at the end of the rebuild to set the DUID is just Not A Problem.
